Sharapat Band Contributed to Kazakhstan’s Election to the UN Security Council.
The Sharapat band became a key cultural element of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s international presentation at the headquarters of the United Nations in the United States. With the financial support of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Foundation, Sharapat traveled to the U.S. to participate in an official reception for UN member state representatives, aimed at presenting Kazakhstan as a candidate for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council representing the Asian region. The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. The presentation featured both visual and musical materials showcasing Kazakhstan’s cultural identity and modern image. Among numerous Kazakhstani artists and music groups, Sharapat was selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the most effective in capturing the attention of the international community. This decision proved successful: Kazakhstan surpassed competing countries and was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from the Asian region. The band’s producer, Toyshy Nurzhan Tasbolatuly, served as one of the hosts of the presentation and as the sound engineer for Sharapat’s performance before UN delegates. The performance made a strong impression and became a true cultural highlight, emphasizing the international potential of contemporary Kazakh music.
